What makes a luggage brand, good?

Well from my experience, hopping city to city and throughout too many airport terminals. I would say a solid luggage brand is one that puts style over price and quality over style. You need a luggage backpack or a more traditional rolling carrier to fit your specific function. The complexity of some of the options out there are mind boggling. This comes with the turf, after all, anything that has something remotely to do with fashion will become more intricate the more popular the market becomes. Just remember the above function when you are searching for just the right fit:

Function > Quality > Price > Style.

What’s the best luggage size?

Finding the optimal luggage size can be a bit complicated, so I feel it’s best to quite straight from the source of the regulators. The maximum dimensions for backpack luggage is 9 inches x 14 inches x 22 inches. Unfortunately, that limit also includes handles and wheels. If you’re looking at check bags, aim for less than 62 inches. The fees are pretty international so don’t worry about things switching up on you. If you are buying your luggage backpack from us, don’t worry about it. All of the best luggage brands are built to withstand TSA regulations.

So you found a few fits

You’ve found a few of the best luggage brands that fit your wallet and style and now you’re wondering how practical they really are. If you haven’t put much thought into this, you really should have. My first trip to Cuba, I put little to no thought into my backpack luggage. I just went on to buy a “nice” set of wheeled carry on luggage to get me on to my destination in a semi-organized manner. Unfortunately, when I made it, I discovered just how much of a hassle having an entire set of hard luggage can be when you’re making a short trip. I should have saved myself a few pennies (a lot actually) and purchased a more practical rolling travel backpack luggage, something I could throw on my shoulders and hit the streets; instead of rolling 3 bags everywhere I moved.

Rolling BACKPACK CARRY ON LUGGAGE

It may seem like a simple comparison at first but in reality, the two different types can vary greatly. Generally, a basic backpack will be softer and easier to fold which can give you just a bit more flexibility if you need something a bit smaller in the luggage size. On the other hand, what you gain for flexibility, you also lose in safety. Generally rolling backpack carry on luggage will give you a harder container for your goods and they are pretty hard to slip open, adding the extra benefit of also being a secure luggage option. Personally, I prefer rolling backpack carry on luggage because honestly, it gets old carrying everything on your back; I’m getting too old for this stuff! Plus my biggest fan in the traveling world Anthony Bourdain generally has rolling luggage backpack.

Comprehensive review of the Delsey Helium Aero and Samsonite Winfield 2

Over the last few weeks, I have rolled a few suitcases around, and comparing them directly, sometimes feels as if I am comparing orange and apples as they have so many different features, price points, and styles in the mix. The Delsey Helium Aero and Samsonite Winfield 2 are the two hard shell quality carry-ons which are priced between $98 and $110. I think they are worth it. It’s a Pretty good deal for this size and looks. Let’s see how do both the suitcases measure up with regards to storage, looks, and portability making it a lot easier to choose between the two spinners for the shoppers out there.

Looks and Style

The Samsonite Winfield 2 is very stylish and modern. Its exterior body is covered with a few curvier lines that give it a decent Look, and the finish it possesses is more appealing and subtle. These bags also come in different colors to make you choose a perfect match for your style helping you to blend in a bit more. The Delsey Helium Aero, on the other hand, looks like it fits in an action movie which might sound cool, but in this case, I think it is not a good thing. The deep ridges and the shiny exterior are the features that match with the style of an action hero. However, it is not a good choice for an average person going to formal business meetings. They look tacky and a bit cheap.

If you are looking for a modern, stylish and a classy spinner, then I think that you can blindly choose Samsonite Winfield 2.

Light weight (the difference is negligible) and Portability

Comparing the Delsey Helium Aero and the Samsonite Winfield 2 regarding light weight and portability is very difficult as they Both are made up of 100% Polycarbonate in order to absorb the sudden impact experienced under stress. It is made in such way that the exterior pops back to its real and usual designed shape without having any dents on the external Top surface. I love this feature which is very useful. It also gives the suitcase a look of bulletproof material and has Zipper closures. However, the Delsey has more zipper closures than Samsonite’s spinner luggage. There is a good news and a bad news. The good news- they both possess four wheels that roll smoothly in multi directions and assure the best maneuverability. However, both can be a bit heavy, and that’s the bad news.

The Best

So, how are you going to choose between the two? You will get the answer once you go through their handles, and this can be considered as the biggest difference between the two spinners. The top handle of the Samsonite Winfield 2 is centered, and all the handle problems are solved. As in the previous model the side the handle was missing, which would make it a difficult task to walk through the stairs with the suitcase in hand. But the top handle on the Delsey Helium Aero is not centered due to which sometimes right after you lift it up, the suitcase swings Into your leg. One more upside for the Samsonite Winfield 2 (28 inches) is that despite being a little taller than Delsey’s (21 inches) spinner luggage, it is lighter in weight which can help you with those overhead lifts.

As a result, this gives a plus point to the Samsonite Winfield 2 regarding light weight, but the nod for portability goes to Delsey.

Space and Storage

I found both the suitcases quite similar again after comparing them in terms of space and storage. They both feature a spacious Interior which is divided with one zippered side. And one strapped side which is an addition to its beauty. The bottom of the Delsey Helium Aero is not flat, and the bars project into the packing space from the extended handle. It also has a Separate sleeve to protect your laptop. This feature is considered as an asset by some buyers, but I didn’t. I would rather prefer to keep my laptop into a laptop bag because sometimes there is a chance of the bulky items protruding into this sleeve. This is the reason why I find Samsonite Winfield 2 better than Delsey Helium Aero regarding storage, as it can hold tons of stuff as well.

Why should you choose the Samsonite Winfield 2?

While both the suitcases are a good option for shoppers out there looking for a hard shell carry-on and the best quality spinners, The Samsonite Winfield 2 is an excellent choice when it comes it comes to lightweight, style and storage. There aren’t many zippers, Bars, and belongings that can protrude into the different sections of the spinner. This suitcase has a squared full Capacity plot. The full zippered interior divider, web straps, and the organization pockets help in minimizing the Wrinkles on the clothing. It also has an integrated side mounted TSA combination lock. Even after being so big it can be expanded for more packing space. This is a stylish, modern and compact suitcase and if you are looking for all these features, then this is the best pick for you.

Why should you choose the Delsey Helium Aero?

The main drawback of the Delsey Helium Aero is the side handle it possesses. If you are looking for a suitcase which is short, Portable and has sporty looks then Delsey can be a good choice for you. There are two huge fully lined compartments With pockets allowing to have an easy access to all your items. It provides the facility of additional expansion up to 2 “. It also has a one-button handle locking system on the extended bar with aluminum tubes. The grips are very Comfortable and strong that are made up of molded ergonomic. It also has a three dial TSA combination lock. As a result of all the researches I have been doing on these two almost similar spinner luggage I have come to a In conclusion, that Samsonite Winfield 2 is a great option, but the Delsey Helium Aero should be considered a “great alternative”.

A story behind the bags

We all have this innate desire to explore, to discover our immediate and unforeseen surroundings. I believe it’s a primal desire to expand ones wisdom of the world, we are no different than cats, dangerously curious. What separates us is whether you are a house cat or a kitty vagabond.

with just the pockets of my jacket

My first big journey was just around the corner, or rather the west. I took a trip to TX, looking for things to do in Austin, Texas. I had also been recently assigned to Ft. Hood, Texas in the Army. If you know anything about the city of Ft. Hood, you’d know there’s not much there to explore but it is rather close to quite a few choice adventures.

After I had my share of journeys around the Austin & Killeen area, I set my eyes to something further, I had become restless from the monotony of the day to day grind that is the military so one weekend I took a leap with just the pockets of my jacket (not very a optimal luggage size), I picked up a few spare pieces of clothes and hit the AUS for flights to anywhere within a 12 hour flight radius. So with a twist of a finger & with blind eyes, I landed a ticket to Mexico City. I do this often, choosing a destination on a whim, it must be the vagabond in me.

So on a random Friday afternoon, I found myself on a flight to Mexico City with little to nothing with me but a passport and a wallet. After a quick stint on the plane and some overpriced whiskey, we land in the MEX with a few hours to spare in the night. I being the responsible man I am, go straight to the nearest hostel to secure a bunk before I hit the streets. Let me just say my Spanish was (and still is) choppy to say the least, so getting around was a hassle and I am sure I spent a few too many pesos on Taxis.

Needless to say.

In the end, the wait and hassle was worth it, I finally scratched my traveler’s itch. I hit the town and bounced around bars, found some good music and a warm chairs and relaxed for the night. I didn’t even notice when the clock hit 0300 but the bar let me know. So I grabbed a fresh bottle of Pulque and hit one of the late-night bars. After a while, when I sobered enough up and my phone was charged, I decided to walk the city (time 0800ish). It was beautiful, let me remind you this was circa 2011 and Mexico had its problems. I generally like countries with problems.

TOO MUCH BOOZE, NOT ENOUGH POCKETS

I really like the set up of the city, it’s vast but organized in it’s own special way. People are friendly and happy demeanures can be seen across the way. Suddenly I  found myself lugging a hand full of exotic (at least to me) wines and liqueurs and a pretty cool hat and I needed to finally sit and take a nap with my new goods in my completely unused hostel bed.

I was completely drained when my head laid down on the twin size mattress and my body didn’t let me get back up until Sunday morning. I didn’t mind the time spent on my bed in this vast city, you can’t really expect to see it all in such a short amount of time. All was dandy until I look around, I had accumulated way too much booze, not enough pockets to carry more than a bottle. I asked the taxi to help find me some backpack luggage or even something a bit more hefty like a rolling travel backpack. I could settle with anything, I had maybe an hour to spare before my flight back home that I simply could not miss.

In conclusion, unfortunately, I was out of luck until I hit the airport and found a luxury luggage backpack store in the airport. The woman at the counter was showing me around bolstering the gear. She was sayig that they only carry the best luggage brands and I had no reason not to believe her. Within 35 minutes of grabbing the very overpriced gear, I notice a rip! So my so called bag was supposed to be one of the best luggage brands on the market but it looked a lot like bonafide cheap goods to me but it was too late. I bit the bullet, patched the luggage and flew home. That was my first spark of interest and inspiration. To make this blog post “Best Luggage Brands” for you folks to avoid my troubles. Don’t worry, the booze survived and it was worth the hassle.
